What will January wear in spring

The answer: essentials only.
January Jones for Versace Spring 2011
Now this is a spring campaign preview that won't go unoticed. I just hope whole campaign will be as good as  this one picture. Mario Testino and Donatella did a great job here. And January Jones is a perferct match. Beautiful, famous, already fond of Versace creations ( she wore them many times on the red carpet) and she looks best in the 60s styling.

I think I may start to like Versace style after all...

Diamonds are the girls best friend

Grand Palais in Paris holds exposition celebrating 125 years of italian jewelery brand Bulgari.

I saw it last weekend and came back mesmerized and in love with Bulgari designs. Also, new passion was found - jewelery design. Hard to believe it but I found it even more endearing that fashion design.
Imagine you have this perferc diamond in front of you, this perfect gift of nature and you need to be creative and delicate at the same time not to ruin it's beauty. I find this very inspiring and I belive jewelery designers are true artists, masters in their world.

Exposition itself is well ogranized leading visitor through the trur Bulgari story that began in 19th century in Grece. We learn the family history alongside with jewelery styles and fashion that changed over the years. I became particulary fond of 20s and 30s period with perfect diamonds and old school designs. I also admired use of new stones such as turqouise or white porcelaine.Of course there is also whole chapter devoted to Elizabeth Taylor, probably most famous Bulgari fan. My goodness, the women was blessed not only with beauty, talent and inteligence but also with some jaw dropping rocks.

I wouldn't mind some Bulgari for Christmas this year.

Bring your own book

Have you seen pictures of Natalie Portman from "Black Swan" premiere?
Remeber the clutch bag she was holding?

Natalie Portman in Dior/Olympia Le Tan clutch

When I saw this I could think of two things - really bad styling and great bad idea.
So I started to google and there I fund Olympia Le Tan!

I love the idea Olympia had for those bag. I think it's ultimate chic to go on a formal party holding your favourite book. Or any party for that matter. My personal favourite is Betty and Striptease ( I guess I have this thing for Simeon). I went to Collete this weekend to grab one, but prize ( areoun 1000€)  scared me off. Well, I add them to my wish list.

Tweet tweet little bird

Thanks to Fashonista I came across @NoBtotheS Twitter account and let me just say - it blows my mind.
Apparently the persona behing it is a New York fashion publicist that want to remain annonymous.
Well maybe she (he?) won't be spotted right away on the busy streest of NY, but  her (his?) post surely won't go unnoticed.

I am not that close to Fashion World to agree or disagree with presented point of view, however I find it really refreshing...and sometimes hilarious.

So please please tweet little bird, tweet...

When it's cold and winy outside

When it's cold and winy outside I just dream about staying in bed and watching tv series all day long...

But when it's friday and I still need to go to work I put this glamorous Sonia Rykiel sweater dress, paired with winter parka, boots and am ready to go.

But I will still crawl to bed as soon as the work day over : )

Have a warm weekend!

I am sorry , I don't like it

You might not like this post and may even say I have no taste in fashion, but I decided to stay true to myself and share my optinion with you.

I don't like Lanvin collection for H&M.
I am really, really sorry but I just don't.

The whole blogosphere, newspapers, fashion magazines was so excited about this collection, saying it's great, creative, amazing. I admit, I was taken over by this enthusiasm. I saw the collection preview and thought "not really my style, but great design and after all it's Elbaz!".

Last night I went to H&M here in Paris to check it out myself. First big suprise: you can still buy the whole collection. There were hundreds of dresses, coats, shoes just waiting for you to take them home. I remeber that you couldn't find M. Williamson pieces anywhere last year!
Second surprise: quality is bad! Materials used are not nice, not skin friendly, I have tried one dress and couldn't stand 5 seconds in it. I dare to say, regular H&M dress fits and feels better.

There you go, I've said it.

But I still adore Alber Elbaz. He is a great designer.
I just wish I could see more of  this in H&M collection:

Fashion baby

Ever since the launch of Gucci Children's Collection last weekend I can't stop thinking about all those little fashionistas. Can babies and kids really aknowlege the fact they are wearing haute couture or pret-à-porter? They probably don't even know what that means, right?

Or am I wrong? Maybe if you have parents that can afford to dress you in Gucci or Dior, you imidiately know the difference? And your first words are not "mummy" nor "dad" but rather "Kezno" and "more Dior please"?

Do you remember?

I haven't been around for a while and I apologise.
Sometimes you need to take a break, you know?

Let's get back on our feets, shall we?

First look at this editorial in December HB . Is this a new "it" girl? New, aspiring model?

No dear, it's Crystal Renn.

Yes the one who - as Fashionista pointed it out  - "" has come to symbolize the debate over size in the fashion industry. She’s vocal about her struggles with anorexia, made headlines when she spoke out against being photoshopped into a slimmer version of herself, and has become something of a spokeswoman to promote acceptance at any size."

Well, she is certainly not against Photoshop now, is she? Also, it looks like she is starving.
I am sad about this, I liked Crystal size 10/12 much better. And I believed her pictures more.

Bad cops, perfect Eva

The "Very bad cops" movie just hit theatres in France.
I am not a very big fan of this one, there is however one major advantage - Eva Mendes.
She is perfection!
And Will Farell is funny as usuall. : )

Riva

New Chanel nail polish hits the stores on December 1th.
You hope for frosty, christmas / winter related shade?

Not a chance.
This winter we are already thinking about vacations on french riviera.

Won't go to rehab, but will shop @ Fred Perry

I had a lovely walk in Marais today. Paris is in a full automne mood and I love it. Sun is still warm, trees are golden and leafs are falling down. It's all very romantic and nostalgic to me.

In this perfect mood ans smile on my face I decided to do little shopping. Smile disapeared when I saw Amy Winehouse in watching me from Fred Perry shop window. No, no, please no! Please don't tell me that she decided to be a model now... No, not a model but a designer...

I am very sceptical when it comes to design and music artists, celebrities in general. I understand how it can be beneficial for both sides- business wise- but I rarely like what is propose to much confused public. In FP case I don't see any ground for this cooperation, I did however enter the shop.

I must say I was suprised. And all in a good way. It's a good, solid and interesting collection. Very 50s, very rockabilly but can be easyli mixed with 2010 style.Well done FR&AW!

Best pieces:

And one bummer:

Go here to see and shop whole collection.

Tabitha to follow

New shoe designer to follow - Thabitha Simmons.

This british wonder, who currently lives in New York City  stands out from other young shoes/accessories designers of our era. Why? Because her designes are original yet wearable and playfull yet classy at the same time. I need to mention they are also crazy confortable. No, I don't own a pair yet...
It will be resolved this Friday : )

Take a look:
