Minna Parikka

Just discovered new fab shoes designer!

Already well know in Finland (her native country), she is starting to gain her place in a top designers to watch world ranking. I heard about her designs form a girl at work, used google magic and fallew head over hills. What I appreciate the most is the unique sens of humour that goes/is hidden in every piece. Real masterpiece. My 20th December wish is to get nice Minna Parikka shoes collection (ok Santa, one pair might just as well do the trick). Look at my selection below, and find out more about the designer on her website.

Graduation show

You know I am a seeker of new talents in fashion world.
They are like a breath of fresh air to me.

That is why I got really excited over Parsons Graduate show. So many talents, so many eye candy for me. Show as a whole was rather diverse – there was some architectural designs, evening gowns, innovative children designs even Napoleon time’s reference. 35 new designers with 35 new approaches to fashion.

Mia Wright Ross

I would give special graduation prize to Mia Wright Ross. Well done girl!

Would you wear something from mrs. cruise's collection?

We got a little preview of Holmes&Yang Fall 2011 collection. Just to remind you Katie Holmes and her stylist Jeanne Yang teamed up some time ago to create thier own clothing line. Since the announcment was made, we were waiting for a first fruits of this collaboration. What I wanted to know was: will it be equally good as Victoria Beckham's line?

The answer is, unfortunatelly, not. I don't see anything interesting, new or innovatiove in this collection. Barneys New York put on sale few pieces and I am a bit dissapointed. I understant those clothes are made from exceptional fabrics and so...but prices are a bit too high for my taste £2,500 for a jacket, £1,500 for a dres...Should I continue?

Description says timeless, edgy and distressed

Away on vacations I am missing Paris. Therefore New Talent this week will be 100% parisian. Ok with you?

Behind Camille de Dampierre brand we found two sisters. Camille - the designer, St Martins graduate and Laurence - resposable for buisness. They seems to be cooperating quite well, because the brand is  growing and gilrs likle me are running around Paris trying to find their dresses and skirts.

Camille de Dampierre

Very french, feminine, sexy and casual. Mission impossible for a designer? Not any more. All pieces are easy to wear and style. I belive this is a secret behing the famous french legerete. This is also the reason of brand growing strenght. Also I really like the collection photo shoot, very arty and parisian

Serena has her bag already

Gossip Girl

Do you want to know who the new girl on the block is? It's Shourouk Rhaiem, jewelery and accessorise designer. Her pieces has already been picked up by Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman and had their onscreen premiere few weeks ago.

Shourouk is a french stylist and jewelery designer that created her own brand back in 2008. She started by creating haute jewelery pieces - bracelets, earings and necklasses. Then came the fantasy headbands and bags. Shourouk creates fantasy world with her designs. They are creative, unique and made from the best materials. No wonder clients were quickly seduced. Her designs can be mixed with sophisticated gown and casual wear. They always fit. That is what makes them unique. I truly wish they could be less expensive.
Below you can see latest Spring/Summer 2011 collection ( my favourite picks)

How do you like it?

Delicate and summer ready

It's been a while since my last New talent post. My apologies, Fashion month was keeping me pretty busy.
But what a month it was! Famous creators, small labels good and bad choices.
Let's go back  to reality now and check our first New talent this month.

Emilie Aman logo

Emilie Aman, young french designer that launched her first collection for SS 2011. She used to work for Vogue Paris, then decided to follow her passion for design. I must say: good choice. She has definitely something new to say and show us. Her designs are very feminine and delicate. Subtle fabrics, cute cuts and colours. All very girly chic pret-à- porter. For the moment I just saw her tops and dresses, I am looking forward for more pieces. But I let you judge.

It's good to have a crown, even if it's paper

You have probably figured it out that this post is about Lauren Conrad new line Paper Crown.

Look book has been delivered few days ago. Collection is cute, very very cute. Pieces are easy to wear, easy to mix and Ibelieve they will be flattering for different body types. She also used one of my favourites colors. In another worlds - good job Lauren.

Tie it, snap it, wrap it, drape it

I am very proud to present you designer Karolina Zmarlak.

Karolina has reinvented the concept of casual pret- a -porter and won me over. She created the "Fluid Foundations" collection where each piecie is reversible. Dresses can be flipped and folded to expose different silhouettes, colors and fabrics.

How creative and efficient. Just think about free closed space! Her latest SS2011 collection have more colour and optimism to it. It is still casual and traditional. Those pieces will be in vouge for ages.
I just wish I could try them out. Unfortunatelly Karolina works and lives in NYC and her designs are not available in Europe just yet. Karolina, any chance you come to Paris any time soon?

For more info visit Karolina website. ( that is also source of pictures shown here).

Dress mania

Time for some patriotism.
I don't write much about Polish aspiring designers. It's mostly because I haven't really find one that inspire me enough. This might change thanks to new Polish brand on the market - La Mania. Designer: Magdalena Butrym, Investor: Joanna Przetakiewicz. Finally good designer that understand the need of pret-a-porter and it's not scared to propose good quality, every day wear clothers. In addition all pieces are cute, feminine, practical yet classy. Butrym is like a fresh air for Polish fashion scene.

I know what you are going to think " why so sad, why no bright colours?". This is the only disadvantage of this collection I see. I do have hope that spring and summer will bring some change in that department.

Gatta means cat in italian

New talent this week is Caterina Gatta.
I would define her style as feminine, sexy, unexpected.

Feminine because she designs mostly dresses ( t-shirt dress is her signature look), tunics, shirts in floral prints. Sexy because her designs make women look good, confortable, interesting and like "she just don't care". There is nothing more sexy that this attitude. Unexpected because you rarely see that much colors and print in one piece. And also because we don't suppose to look good in that much color and print and yet we do.

Caterina studied Fashion and Costume Sciences at La Sapienza University in Rome but says her knowlege and inspiration comes mostly  form day to day work. She haunts for vintage fabrics and customize designs according to the personality of the future wearer.
I wonder what she would design for me....
